Anderson’s Bookshop to change ownership

Island_Books_NapervilleA.J. Fikry brings Island Books to Naperville and Downers Grove

A prickly curmudgeon named A.J. Fikry is settling himself and his story in Naperville and Downers Grove, at Island Books, located in downtown Naperville and in downtown Downers Grove. Things are not always as they seem at Island Books, but those familiar with Anderson’s Bookshop, at 123 W. Jefferson Ave., (630) 355-2665, or at 5112 Main St. in Downers Grove will have no trouble locating Alice Island’s favorite bookshop. Just take the ferry and at the landing, look for the trademark sign overheard: No Man is an Island: Every Book is a World.

Fikry’s life is explored in The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, by Gabrielle Zevin. Come into the shop and find the Abandoned Bookshop Baby, just as Fikry did. That event launched a transformation so profound that millions will now cheer Fikry on, and see their local bookshop in a new light.

For future reference, author Zevin herself will visit Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville to talk about her new novel on Wednesday, April 30 at 7PM.

The key to Anderson’s success has been special events, like the celebration of A.J. Fikry and Island Books.  To learn more, call (630) 355-2665 or visit  www.andersonsbookshop.com.
